有一个男人一生工作并且存下所有的钱，只要谈到钱，他就很吝啬。
There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his money,and was a real miser when it came to his money.
他要死时，向他太太说：「我死时，要把我所有的钱和我一起放进棺材，我要把钱带到我死后的生命去。」
Just before he died, he said to his wife, 'When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to
the 'after-life' with me.' !
他得到太太全心的的承诺，他死后，她将把所有的钱放进棺材。
And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.
他死了，伸展著身子躺在棺材内，他太太穿著黑衣服坐在那裡，她的朋友也坐在她旁边，当完成了仪式后，在办理丧葬的人要盖上棺材时，她说：「等一下…」
Well, he died…. He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was ! sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When t hey finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket,the wife said, 'Wait, just a minute!'
她带著一个盒子，并且将它放进棺材中。
She had a box with her, she came over with the box and put it in the casket.
然后办丧事的人将棺材封起来推走。
Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away.
她的朋友说：「我知道你不会笨到把所有的钱都放进去棺材与你的先生一起吧！」
Her friend said, 'I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there in the casket with your husband!'
这位忠诚的妻子说：「我不可以不遵守我的话啊！我答应了他，要将所有的钱跟他一起放进棺材。」
The loyal wife replied, 'Listen, I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him.'
「你是说你真的把所有的钱跟他一起放进棺材吗？」
'You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him !?'
那太太说：「是啊，我确实这样做了，我把所有的钱存进我的帐户，并且开了一张支票给他，只要他去领他就可以用了。」
'I sure did,' said the wife. 'I got all the money together, put it into my account and wrote him a cheque. If he can cash it, he can spend it.'
